Dutchie Darling . . . Love, Bob
A Love Story

How to Read the Website

Assembling and organizing this website challenged all of us as we dealt with almost 3,000 images in 500+ letters.  We decided to group the website into Sections that indicate a significant change in Bob's life, mostly as he moved from one location to another.  Each section contains the letters he wrote from that location, as well as photos and other memorabilia he kept.

The first page of the website shows all of the Sections.  Clicking on a Section takes you to a page that has a brief introduction describing where he is and why he is there.  A list of letters with links to the scanned images also appears on that Section's page.

The actual letters were a real challenge.  In some cases, Bob wrote several letters in a day, often with many, many pages.  We decided to list all of the pages within a day in one continuous web page.  For example, he wrote several letters on May 17, 1942, for a total of 17 pages.  Clicking on that date brings up all 17 pages in the order they were written.  A page number in the form of Page x of y appears in the left margin to help the reader keep his/her place.
